What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a Group Agronomist to develop and implement strategies for optimizing crop production across all farms. This role demands technical expertise in agronomy, a commitment to sustainable practices, and the ability to integrate modern technologies like AI and NDVI imaging into farm operations. The ideal candidate will drive productivity, profitability, and sustainability while advancing the company’s mission to innovate in agriculture.
Key Responsibilities
Crop Management
- Develop and execute crop production plans, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.
- Monitor crop health, soil conditions, and farm productivity to ensure optimal yields.
- Evaluate and implement the use of new seed varieties, fertilizers, and agrochemicals.
Research & Development
- Conduct trials to improve crop yields, quality, and sustainability.
- Incorporate regenerative agriculture principles like crop rotation, cover cropping, reduced tillage, and organic amendments.
- Stay updated on agricultural advancements and integrate them into operations.
Modern Technology Integration
- Use AI, NDVI imaging, and other precision agriculture tools for farm monitoring and resource optimization.
- Analyze data to provide actionable insights for crop improvement.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of crop performance, weather patterns, pest outbreaks, and agronomic inputs.
- Prepare performance reports and identify areas for improvement.
Training & Capacity Building
- Provide agronomic training for farm managers and field staff.
- Foster knowledge-sharing to ensure consistency and high operational standards.
Sustainability & Compliance
- Promote sustainable farming practices, with a focus on regenerative agriculture.
- Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations and industry standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with suppliers, agronomists, researchers, and other stakeholders to enhance resource access and innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Crop Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years in commercial horticultural farming.
- Proven expertise in improving crop yields and implementing sustainable farming practices.
- Strong knowledge of agronomy, soil science, pest management, and regenerative agriculture.
- Experience with AI and precision agriculture tools like NDVI imaging.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in agricultural software and data management tools.
- Willingness to travel frequently across farms.
- Passion for agricultural innovation and improvement.
