Job Purpose
To build scientific credibility and advocacy for our portfolio among healthcare professionals across Kenya and East Africa. The Medical Affairs Manager / MSL is the scientific face of the company — engaging doctors, pharmacists, nutritionists, and other HCPs with accurate, evidence-based information; training the field force on medical content; reviewing claims for scientific accuracy; and building a network of key opinion leaders who support HCP recommendation of the portfolio across OTC and nutrition products, prescription medicines, and medical devices.
Key Responsibilities
-
Scientific Engagement & KOL Development
-
Identify, map, and engage key opinion leaders and influential HCPs across relevant specialties — general practice, paediatrics, gynaecology, nutrition, pharmacy, and others.
-
Conduct scientific exchanges, presentations, and round-tables, communicating evidence accurately and in a balanced manner.
-
Build long-term, trust-based relationships that drive advocacy and HCP recommendation of the portfolio.
-
Organise CME sessions, symposia, webinars, and clinic presentations in line with accreditation requirements.
-
Gather field insights — clinical trends, unmet needs, competitor scientific activity — and translate them into business recommendations.
-
Medical Content & Evidence
-
Develop scientifically accurate content: product monographs, detail-aid sections, FAQs, objection-handling guides, and training materials.
-
Review clinical literature and guidelines, and maintain an up-to-date evidence library for each priority brand.
-
Translate complex scientific data into clear, compliant messages for different audiences.
-
Medical Review & Compliance
-
Review promotional materials for scientific accuracy, ensuring only approved, evidence-supported claims are used, in coordination with Regulatory Affairs.
-
Respond to unsolicited medical information requests with accurate, referenced answers within agreed timelines.
-
Support pharmacovigilance by recognising and forwarding adverse events and product complaints encountered in the field.
-
Field Force Training & Support
-
Design and deliver medical training for representatives, including product knowledge and competitor differentiation.
-
Assess representative knowledge and coach on scientific detailing quality through joint field visits.
-
Act as the escalation point for medical and technical questions beyond representatives’ authority.
-
Launch & Commercial Support
-
Provide medical input into launch plans, brand strategies, and campaign development.
-
Represent the business at conferences and professional events, and coordinate advisory boards where required.
-
Planning & Reporting
-
Develop an annual medical affairs and KOL engagement plan aligned with commercial priorities.
