City Eye Hospital (CEH) is one of Kenya’s leading specialized ophthalmology centers, delivering subspecialty eye care across Retina, Glaucoma, and Anterior Segment Ophthalmology from our Nairobi headquarters and Nyeri branch. The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to help build something that matters. As COO, you will be the operational spine of the organization, translating strategy into systems and systems into outcomes. You will work directly alongside the Executive Director to build a high-efficiency, process-driven hospital that serves more patients, better.

CEH needs someone who can design and enforce operational standards, unlock revenue growth, and create the management discipline that will carry the organization through its next phase of expansion.

What You Will Do

Build and enforce operational systems. Design, standardize, and implement processes across all hospital functions. Set the operating rhythm of the organization.

Own performance and data. Develop dashboards and reporting frameworks that give leadership reliable, actionable intelligence. Make data the default language of the organization.

Drive revenue growth and patient volume. Own the commercial mandate: grow patient numbers, improve consultation-to-procedure conversion, optimize utilization of theatre, doctors, and equipment.

Align departments. Coordinate cross-functional execution so that patient flow, service delivery, and support functions work as one integrated system.

Lead branch alignment. Ensure operational consistency and performance parity between the Nairobi and Nyeri branches.

Oversee marketing, sales, and institutional engagement. Hold the Marketing and Sales function accountable for pipeline targets, institutional engagement, and referral network development.

Support new service development. Lead the operational setup of new service lines.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a proven operational leader who is energized by complexity and grounded enough to work inside a mission-driven, clinician-led organization.

Experience. 10 to 15 years of senior leadership in complex service operations. A demonstrable track record of systems implementation, performance management, and multi-functional team leadership. Healthcare experience is preferred but not a prerequisite. What matters is that you have delivered results in environments where operations, people, and data intersect.

Education. MBA, MHA, or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.

Leadership style. You are a systems thinker and a data-driven decision maker. You lead by earning trust, not by imposing authority. You communicate clearly across clinical, administrative, and executive audiences. You are collaborative, non-disruptive, and effective in environments where clinical judgment and operational discipline must coexist.
